Job Description

The Lutheran Home Association is seeking a Clinical Nurse Supervisor to lead our care team and provide quality of care to those we serve at Kingsway Retirement Living, our 81-apartment assisted/independent living facility located on a 22-acre campus in Belle Plaine (MN). Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement and direct the day to day functions of the nursing department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the independent and assisted living industry.
  • Ensure the nursing department policy and procedures and nursing service objectives and philosophies are kept current.
  • Assist the Quality Assessment and Assurance Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified problems.
  • Develop methods for coordination of nursing services with other resident services to ensure the safety and continuity of the care of the resident.
  • Develop, maintain, and periodically update written job descriptions for each level of nursing personnel.
  • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, charting, etc., as necessary.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program for the nursing department.
  • Supervise the admission, transfer and/or discharge planning process of the residents as it relates to the clinical safety of that resident.
  • Participate in surveys made by authorized government agencies. Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Housing Manager.
  • Provide direct nursing care to the residents.
  • Monitor nursing activities performed by home health aides.
  • Ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Possess a current, unencumbered, license and registration to practice as a RN in the state of Minnesota
  • Experience as a supervisor in a healthcare related field.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities to develop and motivate people
  • Good critical thinking and problem solving skills;
  • Exhibit ability to prioritize responsibilities
  • Flexible and able to work under stressful situations
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-directed and work autonomously
  • Management skills to plan for and oversee the utilization of resources and the design of work processes.
